Set up Wispr Flow for voice health notes in 10 minutes

Talk to your AI like you'd talk to a clinician. Faster, more accurate, hands-free.

6 minutes start to finish

The reason most health journals fail is that typing is too slow at the moment you'd actually capture something useful. Wispr Flow makes voice-to-text fast enough that you'll actually use it during the day, not at bedtime when you've forgotten everything.

Before you start

  • Mac or Windows (Wispr Flow is desktop-first)
  • Wispr Flow free tier
  • A chat tool open in another window (ChatGPT, Claude, whatever you use)

The steps

  1. 01

    Install and grant microphone permissions

wisprflow.ai → download → install. On macOS, grant accessibility + microphone in System Settings. Two minutes max.

  2. 02

Set the hotkey to something you'll remember

Default is Fn. I use Right Option. Hold the key, talk, release — the text appears wherever your cursor is.

  3. 03

    Test in your chat tool

Open ChatGPT or Claude. Hold the hotkey. Describe what you're feeling: "Slept 6 hours, woke at 4am, mild headache behind the right eye, mood flat." Release. The text lands cleaned up — no "um", no half-sentences.

  4. 04

Build the muscle for 7 days

Every time you notice something — fatigue, hunger pattern, mood shift — hold the key and say it out loud into your health thread. By day 7 you'll have more usable data than 6 months of trying to remember at journal time.

Honest note

Voice notes are not a substitute for a clinician. They're the raw material that makes a clinician visit 10x more productive.
